Eddie O

I was born on February 16, 1967, in Seattle, Washington, and moved to Hawaiʻi in 1985. Since 1994, I've been a radio broadcaster on Hawaiʻi Island, and for more than 30 years, I've had the privilege of being a voice for this community—keeping people informed during emergencies, sharing news, and connecting with listeners across the island.

Throughout my broadcasting career, I've realized the profound importance of being there during times of crisis. Whether it was an earthquake, tsunami warning, lava flow, or even 9/11, I wanted to be first on air to deliver critical information and give our community a platform to share what they were experiencing. I would ask listeners, "Where are you? Are you safe? What are you seeing?" This connection with the people of Hawaiʻi Island has always been at the heart of what I do.

But I've wanted to do more than just be a voice during emergencies. I want to be the voice of everyday people—like the family struggling with the skyrocketing cost of living, or the woman frustrated with beach restrooms being out of order for months. That's why I'm running for County Council District 7. I want to use my passion for public service to help address the issues that matter most to our community.

Beyond broadcasting, I've worn many hats on this island. Since 2016, I've worked as the Hawaiʻi Island Branding Specialist for Nutrex Hawaiʻi, makers of BioAstin and Pure Hawaiian Spirulina. I've been a race announcer since 1995, have hosted and emceed events all across the island, and even became a licensed Hawaiʻi state barber in 2024. As an Ironman World Championship finisher in 2015 and an avid walker and cyclist, I understand firsthand the importance of safe roads, maintained shoulders, and infrastructure that supports our active lifestyle.

I'm committed to bringing District 7 together and addressing the issues that affect our entire island. From improving public facilities and creating new community spaces to enhancing road safety and promoting ecotourism, I have a vision for a stronger, more connected district. Most importantly, I want to hear directly from you—the residents of District 7—about what matters most to you and your families.

Let me be your voice on the County Council. Together, we can make District 7 and all of Hawaiʻi Island a better place to live, work, and raise our families.
